18th Century, Italian Carved and Gilt Wood Mirror
Important mirror made in Turin, north of Italy, in the second half of the 18th century in finely carved and gilded wood.
The mirror has two orders of frames with upper rib, mirror inserts in the middle band. From the frame starts a rich cimasa composed of volutes and elements phytomorphic and ramage. At the center is carved an anthropomorphic face with zoomorphic elements of fantasy that supports from the mouth fluttering ribbons and that on the head supports a crown from which triumph oak branches. Below, two elegant feet support the entire mirror. They are composed of large volutes, drapes and leafy decorations. At the center, on the lower side there is a decorative element with ribbons and graceful drapes that contributes to the compositional balance set.
