Provenance
Villa Cyrnos, residence of Eugénie de Montijo, former Empress of the French (1826-1920).

History
The shape of our vase was developed in July 1860 (Archives MNC, Sèvres, Appréciation des pièces en blanc et en fonds, juillet 1860 (folio 187), avec un total de frais de fabrication de 224,60 francs). Probably unique, since no other copy is mentioned in the archives, it was released at the Sèvres sales store on March 7, 1868 (Arch. MNC, Sèvres, Vv7, 67-7 : "1 vase lesbos 1ere fond sur émail décor en or (sic) médaillon de l’Impératrice - 650 frs").
Undoubtedly not finished and having not found a destination before September 4, 1870, date of the fall of Napoleon III, it remained then in the reserves of the manufacture of Sèvres (Archives Nationales, AB XIX 3347 : "État des pièces de porcelaine avec portraits, chiffres ou attributs de la famille impériale existant dans les magasin de la manufacture : 1 vase de lesbos fond céladon, médaillon et chiffres de SM l’impératrices, en pâte blanche.").
On 12 January 1899, a judgment was handed down ordering the return to Eugénie of 452 pieces from the Sèvres manufactory, which would be given on 17 June to the Empress's representative, Firmin Raimbeaux (1834-1916) (see La liste civile de Napoléon III, page 435 et Arch., Sèvres, Vaa 8, f° 174 v° : "À M. Raimbeaux, au nom et comme représentant de l’Impératrice.
Valeur 650 fr.").
