Elegant "Bergère" with backrest "cabriolet". Made of molded natural beech wood, it is carved with flowers, foliage scrolls and acanthus leaves.
The carving is of beautiful quality, well balanced, and the moulding is vigorous. Note the staples on the front and side belts. The shoulders are decorated with acanthus leaves, and the scrolls on the armrests are short, perfectly round.
The quality of the beechwood used, the perfect balance of proportions, and the characteristics mentioned above are the mark of a Parisian work circa 1740. The curve of the feet is also representative of the classicism in force in the capital in the middle of the 18th century, with the tip of the foot in line with the outer hanger. The relatively small size of this "bergère" does not alter the comfort of this well-designed seat. The state of conservation is very good, this seat having no foot in or repaired crosspiece. We made the choice for this seat to leave it in "its juice", probably restored in the 60s. The embossed velvet is in perfect condition, the seat doesn't move and it can be used in its current state. This choice makes it possible to announce for a "bergère" of this quality a very modest price.
