Flemish school, 17th century. The battle of Lekkerbeetje at Vught

This highy decorative and colorful painting was executed by a flemish painter in the 17th century, obviously inspired by the well know painter Sebastian Vrancx who painted this famous battle near Vught several times.
History says that on the morning of the 5th of February 1600, a battle started between Flemish mercenaries led by General Lekkerbeetje and French soldiers.
This battle took place at Vught, close to Saint Hertogenbosch in Holland.
This battle was one of the most exceptional engagements during the Eighty years' war. The commander died during this battle.
