Jos Schippers (1868 - 1950)

Jos Schippers was born on 13 Oktober in the Belgian city of Deurne in 1868. He was the grandson of the painter Charles Schippers.

Painter,etcher of portraits,animals,figures,marines,landscapes which the monkeys are prefferred which he enjoyed with human features in a wide variety of scenes painted in the realist style. As a great admirer of Charles Verlat, Schippers enjoyed his trainig at the Academy of Antwerpen led by Leon Brunin and Pieter Van Havermaet. Jos Schippers died in Deurne on December 31 in 1950

In this painting, he painted his favorite theme: monkeys. They have human features, a monkey examines with a smile the other monkey which has a grimace on the face.
