An important enameled copper plaque decorated with two birds seated back to back, their heads turned towards each other, within a stylized flower with six triangular leafs. Made by the champlevé enamel technique in green, white and red enamels, with slight remains of gilding.
Northern Spain, with obvious Moorish influences. Romanesque. 2nd half of the 12th century.
Provenance: ex private collection of Mr. Edmond Golbert (Antwerp, °1941- +2019), antique dealer and passionate collector ; acquired by us in May 2020.
