Tazza in molded red morello cherry resting on a turned barrel with round base.
The red morello cherry marble (from the Minervois) contains many goniatites (fossilized shells) filled with white calcites, called partridge eye.
A large number of chimneys of the Palace of Versailles have been made of this material.
