16th century hispano-moorish tiles geometric composition

Composed azulejos with Islamic geometric and naturalistic patterns.
There are two type of azulejos in the composition, the relief ones, produced in the Cuenca technique, and the flat blue and white colored ones are named alicatados which means they were cut with pliers.

Moorish tiles came to Portugal in the 1500s during the reign of King D. Manuel I. Intricate compositions using Moorish tiles can be found in the Cintra National Palace, Old Church of Coimbra and various important palaces and churches throughout Portugal.
