This astonishing object comes from the production of the faience factory of Sarreguemines in Lorraine. At the ends of the blades of a bamboo-footed turnstile, four ceramic vases are suspended. A signature at the base of each of them allows the identification of the manufacture and gives a precise dating range of the piece between 1875 and 1900. Indeed, the signatures and their changes over the years are very well referenced in Sarreguemines.
The decoration of the four vases consists of a semi of delicate flowers as embroidered on the surface of the ceramics. The contours are delimited by a fine black line and spaces are coloured in solid colours to create a purely decorative effect. Flower motifs are very common in Japan and are not out of tune with the spirit of the ensemble.
