Amédée Rosier is a student of painters Léon Cogniet and Carolus-Duran. His first shipment to the 1857 Salon was a history painting, Le Combat naval à Sébastopol. He travels a lot, to Venice and Constantinople. It also crosses Egypt and North Africa.
He received a third class medal at the Salon of 1876 with La Lagune, le soir à Venise4. A bronze medal was awarded to him at the 1889 World's Fair for Venice, the Grand Canal.
