The hinged lid is decorated in the center with a medallion with a violet in royal blue enamel on a matte background. The enamelled thought known as of the Palais-Royal is characteristic of the luxury objects sold in the shops of the Palais-Royal in Paris during the French Restauration. The vinaigrette opens on a fine pierced grid which allowed to contain a sponge soaked in flavored vinegar.
