Wonderful Baroque Mirror in Cartoccio, gilded with pure gold, Tuscan from the 18th century with frame measures 85 x 77 cm and 53 x 45 cm in mirror, with a cut of 15 cm and of course with original mercury glass (always very rare and of remarkable value) with floral scroll frames.
The Baroque style is particularly congenial to the creation of mirrors, as objects that, thanks to a simple basic structure can be carved and sculpted in a marvelous way with thick decorations of great beauty.
This Tuscan cartoccio mirror shows a remarkable decorative exuberance in which the dense and excellently well-worked golden foliage (original gilding performed favoring the play of lights and shadows, so as to highlight the three-dimensionality of the work), allows a glimpse of a ribbon element in painted wood with slightly darker colors that sinuously runs along the perimeter of the frame, both wrapping itself in deep volutes and overlapping gilded leaf elements with highly suggestive effects.
This stunning mirror with leafy volutes, which with a symmetrical shape, voraciously flakes the outline of the frame, is a striking testimony to the versatile Venetian ability, able to add further panache to a representation that has an impressive expressive force and a truly remarkable expressive success.
