Pair of "Paludiers" 18th century (sea salt workers)

Pair of "Paludiers" 18th
from the GUERANDE region.
made of mother-of-pearl and shells.
But the real face of the salt marshes, it was the monks of Landévennec Abbey by creating in 945 the priory of Batz who carved it. By studying the tides, the wind, the sun, the monks drew the plan of the salt flats, whose contours have changed very little since. This titanic work ensured Guérande’s prosperity for many centuries by opening Europe’s first trading routes, Eldorado de Bretagne.
The salt harvesting operations are always the same and have thus made this profession sustainable.

Very good condition
