Some artists were specialized in the creation of trompe-l'oeil paintings simulating sanguine drawings in frames imitating marbles, particularly the members of the Seyter or Seytter family active in Rome and Turin at the end of the 17th and in the first half of the following century.
The Seyter family had German origins and the first artist in the family was Daniele Seyter, born in Vienna in 1649 who died in Turin in 1705. There were three parents working the scagliola in the 18th century: Pietro, Amedeo and Tarsilla [...]
