Pair of trompe l'oeil imitating engravings One of them signed Petrus Seyter and dated 1715 Some artists were specialized in the creation of trompe-l'oeil paintings simulating sanguine drawings in frames imitating marbles, particularly the members of the Seyter or Seytter family active in Rome and Turin at the end of the 17th and in the first half of the following century. The Seyter family had German origins and the first artist in the family was Daniele Seyter, born in Vienna in 1649 who died in Turin in 1705.
