Genre painting at the cobbler workshop, oil on canvas, Flanders, 17th c

A rather funny scene taking place at a cobbler's. The cobbler mends old shoes, while the shoemaker makes new or luxury shoes. A poor hère comes to repair his shoe, and the gentleman on the right puts his hand on a cheese and points the index finger on his nose, barely hidden allusion to the smell of his bare foot. Flemish school of the 1st half of the 17th century. No frame

Period : 17th century
