An important lost wax bronze Art Deco sculptural group of a seated lion on a rock next to a lioness, which is approaching a serpent. Mounted on the original marble plinth. The bronze is signed on the back CH. MAILLARD and dated 1925. The foundry stamp to the right and the number 2 to the left.
Charles Pierre Maillard was born June 29, 1876 in Cholet (Maine-et-Loire) and died August 4, 1973 in Corné (Maine-et-Loire) and was a French sculptor and ceramist.
