Pupil of Eugène Isabey and E. Luminais, Paul-Emmanuel Péraire started at the Salon in 1866. He showed great sensitivity in his landscapes, most often chosen on the banks of the Marne, the Oise, the Seine. This landscape painter turns out to be the true disciple of the great barbizonniers: his riverside at dusk, his ponds lined with trees express all the deep communion of the painter with the nature which surrounds him. His work sometimes recalls that of Daubigny by the effects of light on water, his taste for the movements of the atmosphere. His light touch and his sense of nature give his landscapes a great delicacy.
