Offered by Romano Ischia
Fascinating and rare medieval wooden sculpture of Hispanic origin.
The work is carved from a unique block of Spanish cedar, hardwood and particularly precious, and used, especially between the '400 and 500, in the creation of sculptures and boxes carved for its resistance to xylophage attacks.
The typology is typical of the late medieval Iberian art of northern Spain in the second half of the 15th century
It has traces of the original polychrome and the supporting chalk layer.
It is a work of obvious historical and artistic interest with a strong emotional impact.
Although it has lost its waterque, the wooden sculpture is in good condition without serious defects.
