The box is made of bone constructed of six panels which are held together by tiny bone pegs and a sliding lid. Each panel is decorated with an engraved and hand-colored image of a King, Queen, Jack, Ace and Nine of Spades and a Ten of Hearts, possibly added as a symbol of love.
