Rectangular snuffbox in gold colored with a miniature on ivory. The box is decorated on all sides with a fine guilloche cross and florets in their middle. The hinged lid is adorned with an ivory portrait depicting a young woman busting and posing three-quarters. This young woman of quality wears a white dress of the seventeenth century adorned with ermine. The miniature is enhanced by an entourage of rose cut diamonds. It was put on the snuffbox later. The base and the bottom are decorated with guilloche panels of braces and jewels as well as rosace of green gold on amati background. The panels are framed by a frieze of half-circles and quads. This form of snuffbox in elongated rectangle, its stylized friezes decor marks the appearance in the decorative arts of neoclassicism whose precursors were Jean Ducrollay, Drais and Ouzille.

Hallmark of the goldsmith master JT (one level) for Jean-Marie TIRON, called TIRON of NANTEUIL or the youngest, received in 1748 until 1761. He has a workshop rue Saint-Louis "La Pomme de Diamonds". In 1761, he settled with Jean Ducrollay place Dauphine with whom he shares the title of "jeweler of the king". He retired around 1773. This master goldsmith is well represented in the collections of French museums.
