Israel Silvestre, born in Nancy on August 13, 1621 and died in Paris on October 11, 1691, is a draftsman, engraver and collector of art in Lorraine.
As the customs of the time would have it, he undertook several trips to Italy, to copy the old masters and to perfect himself with the greatest masters. Faucheux fixes the dates of these voyages, for the first before 1640 (Israel is not then 20 years old), the second one from 1643 to 1644 and the last one around 1653.
Israel brings back many views of Italy that almost all of them are engraved with. Until 1659 he made other trips to France and Lorraine, drawing lots of drawings and engravings
