This charming gilded and sculpted chandelier was made in northern Italy at the end of the 17th century, early 18th century. Its six arms of light surmounted by wooden candleholders are connected by a central fut decorated with acanthus leaves. That kind of gilding is called "at the mecca". This is a technique of Italian origin consisting in applying a golden varnish to a silver leaf.
In perfect and complete condition, this chandelier has been electrified by one of its former owners and can therefore accomplish its initial, but modernized, lighting mission.
