The Allegory Of Fame In Bronze - Venice 16th Century
This charming bronze represents an allegory of Fame. Bearing the appearance of a well-dressed, richly dressed young woman, she wears a laurel wreath in her right hand. With her left hand raised, she formerly brought to her lips a trumpet, now vanished, ringing the glory and triumph of the victors. The style and remarkable ornamental richness of this bronze indicate a Venetian provenance and allows us to date it in the course of the sixteenth century. Traces of dorrures still perceptible testify of its great preciosity.
