This set has on the suzuri bako (writing desk) the decoration of the boat loaded with the symbols of good fortune, takara bune, with the sail widely deployed, is en-suite, with the richly decorated document box (ryoshi bako), on a black lacquer ground, tumultuous waves and rocks under a red sun.
The gold and silver lacquer work is particularly elaborated by its nuances, its reliefs and its different hues.
The waves are represented on the two boxes as well as the cranes in flight and bamboos under the lids.
Period : late Meiji early Taisho around 1920.
