René Jean Louis Andrei (1906-1987) called Rene Andrei, was a French sculptor and engraver. Son of a Parisian craftsman and sculptor, he began in 1920 to attend the studio of Louis Aimé Lejeune and the academies of drawing of Montparnasse. In 1925, he received an honorable mention at the Salon of the French artists. In 1926, he entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
Andrei won a grand prize in 1937. He made many official commissions, delivering monumental works for Mont-Valérien ("Siena", high relief of the Memorial of France fighters), La Ciotat or Le Havre
