Italian vedute painter of the eighteenth century, Giuseppe Bernardino Bison was also an important decorative painter. He executed paintings for a great number of palaces and created stage designs for theatres and operas. The present drawing is characteristic of Bison’s architectural designs. The frieze of acanthus, the eagle, the putti, the bust in a medallion and the figure of a seated woman are typical elements of Bison’s architectural drawings.

Drawing framed.
