Régence Lyonnaise table known as a bipartite early 18th century circa 1710

A Régence Lyonnaise table known as a bipartite early 18th century circa 1710-1715.

Elegant Lyonnaise table known as a bipartite , all sides in solid natural wood carved molded and waxed. Rectangular quadrangular, it opens from the front by a sliding drawer under the plate in the middle part of the belt. This are finely carved with a shell embellished on both sides with voluble windings and fine foliage perfectly symmetrical foliage. The base with four slightly arched fine legs is nicely embellished with a work of fine sculptures matching the aprons. The shoulder of each of the legs is adorned with an opulent concave shell generously marrying the curve of this; a hoof of cervidae crowned with leaves of acanthus, perched on a sphere punctuates elegantly all. The top consists of a cabaret doubled in its thickness by two mobile angular appendages deported folding in cavities provided for this purpose in the upper right corner of each of the side rails. A reversible mobile panel forming a stopper fits into the cabaret; the assembly forming the top plate all of the faces of the cap is treated differently; wrapped in his old gold morocco with small irons for one and taut, one sheet for the other. - The concave cabaret allowed the dice, thrown to always return to the center of the game without leaving the table. - The two angular appendages very popular nowadays to deposit his glass, were designed in order to have candlesticks or candelabra to light the game without hindering the threshing cards; rounded they blocked the candlesticks. - The stopper giving its bipartite character to the table, wished to change the main destination of it. Followed suit morocco side, she did elegant office day and wise writing table salon but the evening with its tense face towel ... .our wise writing table was dedicated to the pleasures then just as addictive as ruinous as are the games of chance such as pharaoh or shadow. The very specific characteristics of this table, which is its rectangular shape combined with the presence of only two movable angular appendages, indicates its exclusive vocation to games of chance, face to face; rarer and less classic than the square tables devoted to four-player games. It should be noted the great care given to the connecting elements of an irreproachable quality. Balance, nervousness, elegance and quality are the most appropriate terms for this elegant coffee table from the beginnings of the Enlightenment.
