A very fine and expressive carved wooden bust of an African boy inset with glass eyes. The chest and shoulders are shown and are very detailed and anatomically correct. The boy has an expressive face with a mellow expression. His hair is carved in short, flattened curls.
The bust would have been destined to be displayed in a "Wunderkammer" and is beautifully presented on an elegant marble base. An old collector's label is visible on the inside of the carving.
