Japanese 4-Panel Screen of 2 Foral carts on a gold ground

Often used in the ceremonies of the wedding procession, the representation of these two tanks is impressive and occupies almost the entire screen. The flowers are painted with a great delicacy where peonies and passion flowers are mixed on a background of gold leaf very nicely framed by a silk floral border. Period: Edo (1603-1868) 19th century.
