Adrienne Marie Louise GRANDPIERRE-DEVERZY (1798 – 1869), circle of
Female artists at work
Oil on canvas
60 x 88 cm
Our nice painting is an interesting testimony of the female artistic life of the early nineteenth century where we can find the expression of all the arts: painting, drawing, music, sculpture, literature ...
The artist, unknown to this day, was most probably inspired by the work done in 1822 by Adrienne Marie Louise GRANDPIERRE- DEVERZY. The latter, a pupil of Abel de Pujol, then his wife, exhibited at the Salon of 1822 a view of the studio of the painter Abel de Pujol, where we see the artist advising his female students. The painting is now preserved at the Marmottan-Monet museum.
