Small portable French clock in an ormolu case on all sides, with applied gilt bronzes to the front: acanthus garlands around an octagonal frame below the dial, two small spandrels to the upper sides and volutes to the top. Four turned toupee turned feet, repeated in four toupees on top of the case. Foldable handle in the shape of a half-heart, the rear door and both sides with full glass for full view. The front dial glass cover with a high dome.
Enamel dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the five-minutes, the 31 days of the month in red. Signed Renard à Reims. Finely cut and chafed ormolu hour and minute hands, the calendar hand in blued steel.
Eight-day autonomy movement, anchor recoil escapement, pendulum and silk suspension. The mainsprings dated 1776. Half-hourly countwheel strike on a silvered bell.
