Stained glass window with James the Greater. France. 2nd half 16th c.

A superb stained glass window in "tondo" depicting a beautifully executed bearded and thoughtful head of a man, which we can identify as the apostle James the Greater.

The glass has air bubbles, a slightly uneven surface and an oily shine to the back, typical signs of early stained glass.

France. Renaissance. 2nd half of the 16th century.

Dimensions: diameter 19,8cm.
