Gothic stained glass from Coventry cathedral, 1st half 15th C.

A beautiful gothic stained glass window with a representation of the Virgin & Child. Mary, crowned and veiled, holds a flower in her right hand and on her left hand supports the nimbate Christ child, who is making a gesture of blessing with his right hand. The central figure is painted in grisaille with shades of ocher.

England. Gothic. 1st half of the 15th century.

Dimensions: 30,5cm x 18cm

Provenance : ex UK antique trade ; reportedly recovered from the ruins of Coventry cathedral after it was bombed during the "Coventry Blitz" on November 14th 1940 by the German Luftwaffe.
