Netsuke - Rat on ivory eating a fruit. Japan Edo, 19th century

Netsuke of ivory finely carved, of a rat on a Mochi cake, it sites on its tail, eating a fruit. The hairwork is rather worn and the fine white ivory is unstained. Black eyes Inlaid. Beautiful patina of an old netsuke. Signed under the base : Tadamitsu. Japan Edo ( 1603-1868) Very early 19th century. Old collection from M. H.T Hindson. Reproduced in the catalogue of his collection by Neil K.Davey.
