A watercoloured project for a costume, by Louis René Bocquet, 1761. Costume for the Sieur Gélain in Hercule mourant, music by dauvergne, libretto by Marmontel.
Louis René Boquet (or Bocquet) born in Paris in 1717, died in 1814, painter and designer of all the theatre and ballet costumes for the court of France, as inspector and director of the “Menus plaisirs” for king Louis XVI at Versailles and Fontainebleau. He was the favorite designer of costumes and decors of Louis XV and Louis XVI for festivities, marriages and coronation.
