Cooke was a member of the Dublin Society of Artists where he exhibited from 1800 to 1803. His miniatures are scarse. This one is the earliest recorded as far as we know, and shows he was already a master in his art. Cooke died in Dublin, Charlotte Street on 1st December 1805.

Condition : good except some yellow dots; colours are fresh ; tiny damage on the glass on the reverse, almost invisible on lower part of the hair; some pearls have fallen from the initiales; some stripes on the original glasses. Medallion has not been open for inspection.
