Portrait of Philippe d'Orléans, known as the Regent, ca. 1700-1725

Philippe d'Orléans, son of Philippe d'Orléans known as Monsieur, brother of Louis XIV, Regent of the kingdom of France from 1715 to 1723, represented in cuirass and wearing the blue cordon of the Order of the Holy Spirit.

The face stands out from the dark background by its light skin tone enhanced with red and underlined by the white lace tie. Pleasant rendering of the wig, the cold reflective armor and the silk cord.

Canvas in very good condition. Restored frame.
