"Pietra dura" panel with cherries. Florence. 17th C.

An important Baroque "pietra dura" panel depicting three cherries inlaid in various hardstones and framed by a lapis lazuli and Siena or "Giallo Siena" marble border on a black slate background.

The anonymous artist of this little masterpiece has carefully chosen the hardstones so that their natural color nuances and veins imitate the grains of the leafs and the structure of the cherries.

Florence. 17th century.

Dimensions: 12cm x 9cm x 0,7cm thick.
