MARSEILLE : (GASPARD ROBERT Manufacture) Very rare large vase and cover decorated with an oriental style scene in a medallion surrounded by guilded mimosa flowers. The finial in the shape of a pine cone and the handles in the shape of ram heads.
The decoration of theis vase can be linked to the one of very rare vases procuced by the Robert Manufacture with oriental scenes in maritime landscape. Such as the corner fontain from the Lacroix ex-collection, exhibited at the Misee des Arts decoratifs in 1932 (N°646) and published in "Le répertoire de la faïence française" (pl 60A), the plaque from the P.Zarifi ex-collection (Abbé Gustave Arnaud D’Agnel « La Faïence et la Porcelaine de Marseille », 1910 pl. XXXIV, N°2)
