French Commode Transition Stamped J. Caumont 18th Century
Elegant small dresser Transition bearing the stamp of Jean Caumont received Master December 14, 1774. It has two drawers (without ties) adorned with a beautiful inlaid decoration: "Greek" motifs, nets, a delicate trophy to musical instruments, two vases with flowers. The uprights are decorated with trompe l'oeil fluting inlay. The curved base ends with pretty golden bronze shoes. This small dresser has a gray marble Sainte Anne.
The Musée Carnavalet de Paris keeps in its collections a small dresser by Jean Caumont similar in size and inlaid decoration (see photo).
