An important Italian Renaissance medal cast in high relief in bronze, pierced and partly patinated in red.
On the obverse is the nimbed bust of Jesus Christ facing left with the legend : "YHS XPC SALVATOR MVNDI". This type of the portrait is probably derived from a lost Flemish painting by Jan Van Eyck.
On the reverse is the nimbed bust of Saint Paul facing right with the legend : "VAS ELECTIONIS PAVLVS APOSTOLVS".
