Charming Sainte carved in lime, in round bump, of Gothic period.
The Saint stands on a pedestal. She has a typically Gothic attitude.
She wears a dress with "triangular neck", covered with a long coat with broken folds.
His round, smiling face is wearing a crown. She has a beautiful wavy hair that falls on his shoulders and down to his back.
This very pretty statuette testifies by its delicacy of the knowledge of the German sculptors in the 15th century.
(lacks the right hand of the Saint)
Historical Annecy: In German statuary of the late Middle Ages, female figures are often dressed in a dress with a triangular neckline, tightened at the waist by a buckled belt, and waved in freely wavy hair spread over the shoulders and back (reference: German sculptures of the late Middle Ages, RMN, 1992, p.176).
