Rare snuff bottle in "burgauté lacquer" with butterfly decoration

Butterfly-shaped with geometrically deployed wings. The decor is very finely encrusted with mother-of-pearl in "Burgaute lacquer", on metal. The spoon is metal and the finial round shape is perforated.
Small chips of mother of pearl visible on photos.
Origin: Japan. Period: Meiji (1868-1912) around 1880.

The lacque Burgaute is named after a shell "the Burgau" and consists of inlaid of iridescent mother-of-pearl. Its origin dates back to the Chinese Ming dynasty and was imported to Japan during the Edo period (1603-1868) under the Tokugawa where the term commonly used aogai
