Painting representing "Alexander the Great and Timoclea" France 17th century oil on canvas. Attributed to Georges Lallemant 1575-1636, French School. Circa 1625-1630 19th century giltwood frame. Timoclea or Timocleia of Thebes is a woman whose story is told by Plutarch in his Life of Alexander, and at greater length in his Mulierum virtutes ("Virtues of Women").
