Small gothic reliquary bust
A small but exceptional reliquary bust representing a young female saint with long hair, draped in long braids on the back and maintained by a hair band. Her face has a soft expression with nicely accented eyes and a tender smile. The head and body are positioned in an "S" shape which is typical of the Gothic period. In the middle of his chest is a round recess with a piece of bone of the saint, protected by glass (which is not original, but neatly replaced).
Carved in walnut with large remains of the original polychrome paint.
Rhenish (probably Cologne). 2nd half of the 14th century.
