A large Chinese export oval dish, circa 1820, the polychrome and gold decoration inspired by Worcester models, the arms with an elephant and tiger, inscribed:" Vizir of the Kingdom, Holder of the State, Bahadur ".
Probably offered by the East India Company to the future Shah Bahadur II, last Mughal Emperor from 1837 to 1858. As described by David Sanctuary Howard in Chinese Armorial Porcelain, vol II, p. 695.
An oval dish from the same service is at the Winterthur Museum.
