Karl Kaufmann is an Austrian painter who worked in Venice, his various studies started at the Vienna Academy.
Then they continued in Northern Europe (Norway), Holland, Germany (Franconia, Gdansk, Königsberg) and often in Italy (Naples, Rome, Venice). These numerous trips were certainly the source of cues for his numerous landscapes, including a remarkable number of views of Venice.
Since 1900 Karl Kaufmann has lived constantly in Vienna.
Today, most of Karl Kaufmann's paintings are privately owned.
Some of his paintings were sold in art auctions at substantial prices (GBP 32,450).
Kaufmann is a splendid landscape architect, with particular meticulousness and refined style. Among his favorite landscapes certainly the city of Venice, the mountains and the woods.
