Marble head of a Madonna. Burgos. Romanesque era.

A Romanesque carved and naturally weathered marble head of a Madonna, most likely from a larger "Sedes Sapientiae" sculpture. She is depicted crowned and veiled, two wavy strands of hair are showing from underneath her veil. Her face wit a pious expression , almond-shape eyes and a serene smile.

Burgos (Spain). Romanesque. Late 12th / early 13th century.

Dimensions: height (with stand) 26,5cm ; height (of the head) 16,5cm
