Saint Clare, enamel circa 1540

A gilt wood frame from the 17th century presents this enamel made around 1540. This scene represents the moment when Saint Claire joins Saint Francis of Assisi and his disciples in Portiuncula. In the background, we can see Claire's family opposed to this project.
Dice architectural elements encase the composition, and gradients of different colors give volume to the hands or arms. We can admire several golden keys.
