Amédée Rosier was born on August 26, 1831 in Meaux (Seine et Marne).

He began his apprenticeship as a landscape and marine painter with Léon Cogniet.

1857: French Artists' Salon of Paris
1889: bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition

He was seduced by Italy and remained there a long time.

Like Felix Ziem, he paints with great wit and skill the views of Venice and Egypt.
He was known for his talents as a colorist.
